Who We Are

60 Feet Under is a scuba diving operator created to offer customized diving experiences to clients at all stages of their underwater journey: entry to scuba, private courses from beginner level to divemaster and guided dives for certified divers either with a private guide or in groups of your choice.

What We Do

After we know your expectations and schedule we will provide a plan for your verification. When we reach an agreement, you will be sent a detailed quotation for your approval and asked for a deposit to guarantee our arrangements.

Depending on the size of your group we will either provide a private boat (min 4 divers) or share boats with other operators. We choose boats from trusted companies that meet all local requirements and that run on a dive schedule that meets your needs (both in terms of timing and discussed diving preferences).

Many moons ago, Christian has started his diving career on a small island in Africa, Zanzibar. Discovering his love for the ocean and diving developed into a desire to experience it with others. He traveled the world, diving every corner from the Red Sea to Asia to the far parts of Southern Africa and now he is exploring the Caribbean. His training was hard, military style, and molded him into a teacher that focuses on the most important skills and behavior in a diver, correcting every mistake and repeating practice until flawless. He wishes for every student to be the most knowledgeable and confident when they finish their training. Taking his career to the next level, he is now putting his experience and knowledge together to share and teach privately, to give the best experience to people who will enjoy and love diving the oceans just like he does. He has put together a small business on the "island of peace", also known as Cozumel, and believes that the right way to experience diving is by truly understanding the principles and by taking the time to dive without being rushed. Focusing on every student individually, acknowledging their strengths and weaknesses, he makes absolutely sure that they perform to the best of their ability. After that, he believes that fun diving is in order by having the time to look for amazing creatures, diving reefs in comfort with no diver traffic and planning dives the way you want, on the time you want to allow you to find your peace.

“From the first day I went diving, it felt like I was entering a different world where I am a visitor who needs to learn everything from the start. A magical, new world that made me feel peaceful and relaxed. An opportunity to step away from my stressful corporate job, busy lifestyle and all surface worries. Priorities were set from the beginning: breathe, experience, learn. My journey started with bumps and obstacles, not everything was easy from the start. What I love the most about scuba diving is that it is inclusive. We all start from the same level, like children learning to walk. Scuba diving for me stands for a peaceful exploration rather than an extreme adventure. My goal in teaching is to be empathetic while demanding, always patient and honest. As a guide, I give space to each buddy team to explore on their own agenda and pace. I stay in control, but show it only when necessary. My idea of diving is slow and easy. No stress, no chaos.”

Divemaster

Karen was born and raised in Southern California where her love for the ocean began. In 2000 she started her journey into exploring the underwater world. Diving became part of her life, going as often as possible and getting up to her rescue certification with hopes to be a divemaster. As we know life happens, and in 2008 she relocated to Northwest Arkansas. Far from any ocean, she felt as though she had lost her chance to be near an ocean and to become a divemaster. In April 2021, she and her husband decided to take a much needed vacation. Of course she wanted to dive! Off to Cozumel they went!! Her husband was interested in learning to dive also, so he got his Advanced Open Water certification and fell in love. While there in April, they met Chris while doing some specialty courses. After talking with Chris about her divemaster journey, she knew this was the perfect instructor for her. In August 2021, she moved to Cozumel to make her dream happen with Chris at 60 Feet Under. Now she splits her time between Arkansas and Cozumel, assisting Chris and Agata during the busy times.
